Urban Forest Master Plan

Urban Forest Master Plan - Under Development

The City has received a CalFire grant to fund an Urban Forest Master Plan (UFMP). The project includes a complete inventory of public trees and new tree plantings. The purpose of the UFMP is to provide a policy guide for managing, enhancing, and growing trees in Yuba City over the next forty (40) years. The Plan will include long-range goals to promote resilience, species diversity, and sustainable canopy cover. An urban forest is defined as all of the trees and woody shrubs growing within an urban area, and the UFMP further delineates the publicly-managed trees along streets, in parks, and at City facilities as the community urban forest.

Yuba City StoryMap is an online tool where you can explore tree canopy across the City through interactive maps. Explore and learn more about the trees in your neighborhood and the benefits that trees (public and private) provide to the community.

Yuba City Land Cover Assessment provides a more thorough understanding of tree canopy distribution across the community, including parks, land use, and landscape maintenance districts. Learn about the potential impacts of climate change on the community and see how canopy has changed over the last fifteen years.

Yuba City Resource Analysis provides a summary of the composition and benefits from the community tree resource; trees on streets, in parks, and at city facilities.
