Born at Beale Air Force Base where his father was flying B-52s, Councilmember Kirchner is a proud lifelong Yuba City resident.
Councilmember Kirchner spent the first part of his career as a Sales Manager in Northern California working with small businesses to increase their profit margins on commodity goods and services. His love of small business – mom and pop shops – continues as he actively supports our local businesses through the Shop Local initiatives.
After retiring from the corporate world, Councilmember Kirchner embarked on a second career in education working with Yuba City Unified School District to give back to the community he loves. He has a deep commitment to public safety, strengthening our infrastructure, and making our city a community that people want to live in.
Councilmember Kirchner’s roots in community service run deep. He is an avid volunteer often taking leadership positions in various organizations including the Acting Company, SAYLove, The Marysville Historic Cemetery Commission and hosting AFS International Students. He is an active member of the Yuba City Noon Kiwanis Club including serving as a Member of the Board of Directors. When the Yuba Sutter Gold Sox were being shuttered, he stepped up and volunteered to donate to the new ownership group to keep the team alive and playing in our community. Continuing his father’s legacy, he is a proud Honorary Commander for the 9th Maintenance Group Command at Beale Air Force Base through the Beale Military Liaison Council (BMLC).
Councilmember Kirchner’s commitment to education endures. He attended local schools in the Yuba City area. He, then, graduated from California State University, Chico and later attended Chapman University (now Brandman) to obtain Teaching Credentials and an MA in Educational Leadership.
Wade lives with his wife, Lisa and their son, Jack in Yuba City with exchange student sons and daughter spread across the globe – including Brazil, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria and Thailand. When not serving our city or teaching, Wade Kirchner can be found cycling through the Sutter Buttes or Kayaking our local waterways.
