CITY OF YUBA CITY GROUNDWATER WELL INSTALLATION PROJECT

NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Yuba City plans to adopt a mitigated negative declaration for the Second Groundwater Well Project. The public hearing will be held by City Council on July 5, 2022 at 6:00pm, at the City of Yuba City, Council Room, 1201 Civic Center Boulevard, Yuba City, CA 95993.

The proposed Project is the construction of a new groundwater well up to 500-foot- deep for the City of Yuba City. The well will produce approximately 1,500 gallons per minute and will expand the City’s water production by 2,400-acre feet per year. It is anticipated that the well will be used during periods of drought when surface water is not available. The new groundwater well will be located in the same vicinity as an existing groundwater well at the City’s Water Treatment Plant site. For the purposes of the Project, the area of potential effect will be the entire WTP site acreage of approximately 24.7 acres. The proposed well has an estimated useful life of 50 years.

Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act, an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration has been prepared, describing the degree of possible environmental impacts of the proposed project. The City has assessed the potential environmental impacts of this proposed project and has determined that they will be less than significant with mitigation. Copies of the Initial Study and proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration are on file and available for public review at the City of Yuba City, Engineering Department, 1201 Civic Center Boulevard, Yuba City, CA 95993 and available online at www.yubacity.net/secondgroundwaterwell. The public review period during which the Agency will receive comments on the proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration will begin on May 19, 2022 and end on June 20, 2022. Comments should be in writing, if possible, and addressed to William Jow, Assistant Engineer at the City address above or [email protected]
