Modeled after best practices from thriving cities, the Yuba City Mayor’s Leadership Institute is a free, six-class experience in which a group of 20 Yuba City residents will meet twice a week, in the evenings, to engage with City departments and leaders. Participants will be diverse, interested in finding out how their local government works, and in turn, provide input as to how they can help Yuba City grow and succeed. The intent is to offer this program twice a year, once in the Spring and then again in the Fall.
Attendees will learn about available City programs, services, meet staff, and discuss a wide variety of matters in the City. By engaging diverse citizens, we hope to educate one another, foster pride, and promote progress and partnerships within our community. We believe that the Yuba City Mayor’s Leadership Institute will spark an interest in public service, increase citizen engagement in City events and processes, give citizens a voice in their community, and will help to educate others in their general knowledge of the City of Yuba City. It is our ultimate goal to develop participants into true ambassadors for Yuba City and that they gain knowledge of all the City has to offer.
City leaders and programs will benefit from the participant feedback, creativity, newly formed community partnerships, and support from the participants. Through the Institute, we will establish better communication and transparency between city government and our citizens.
Participants must be 18 or older and live in Yuba City.
Classes are scheduled for twice per week, Monday and Thursday from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM.
