The Reserve Officer program is designed to provide officers with a wide variety of experiences involving patrol and special events. A primary job of a Reserve Officer is to serve as backup officers on patrol. Reserve Officers are trained in many of the aspects of
patrol which assist in their development as an officer. Monthly
trainings are provided to Reserve Officers in addition to the on the job training they receive as the backup officer.
The Reserve Officer program offers two levels to the Reserve program. A level two Reserve Officer, after completing a field training program, will ride with a full-time officer and be considered a
two officer unit. A level one Reserve Officer, after completing a field training program, will operate as a solo patrol officer. Both levels of a Reserve Officer serve our community in a positive, professional, and effective manner. Reserve Officers are also active at community events and routinely provide security at public events within our city.
The Yuba City Police Department values the Reserve Officers and members of the program. All members of the Reserve Officer program have successfully graduated from Police Academies in accordance with Police Officer Standards Training (P.O.S.T.).
